Above and to the side show the process of laying and cutting out the pattern on the white top to reduce scrap fabric and reuse this old shirt.

The white top is created from a thrifted shirt that has been repurposed into a newer piece instead of getting thrown into the garbage after it may not sell from the thrift store. Many thrift stores pass on a majority of their items to third smaller countries when they don’t sell. These items get dumped and piled into small communities that cannot afford to get rid of them or then have a use for their local stores to build their own economy.

The blue jean top is made from textiles scraps of jeans that were cut into shorts. Textile waste is one of the largest problems in the industry, but this can be fixed by reducing and reusing textile scraps for new items or as fillings and insulation.

Lastly, the green pants are made from deadstock material that has been made into a modern army pant. Deadstock materials are old bolts and yards of fabric that their main manufacturer cannot use of has overproduced. This creates a lot of extra fabric that is still usable especially for smaller designers.
